EURODL is an electronic, multi-media journal on distance and e-learning distributed on the Internet. It publishes the accounts of research, development and teaching for Europe in its most inclusive definition, exploring the potential of electronic publishing. EURODL presents scholarly work and solid information about open, distance and e-learning, education through telematics, multimedia, online learning and co-operation.
The following types of articles are invited:
- Full research papers, adding considerably to the field of published literature, for the "Refereed section"
- Contributions that may be project reports, work in progress, non-English submissions, for the "Brief items", non-refereed section
- Reviews: inputs about recently read, relevant books in the field for the "Review section".
The Editorial Baord is, from time to time, also launching "Call for themed issues" according to special interest in the field.
Complying with the guidelines for contributions is the first criterion in the review procedure of your article, which should be submitted in two basic versions (please, read carefully the following paragraphs):
Abstract
The abstract expected should not exceed the size of 50-200 words (there is space left on the online submission form, accordingly). Besides the English version you are requested to present to the journal for publication non-English version(s) of your choice (preferably your mother tounge or any other European language). These short abstracts will be published together with the full English version of the article in the "Peer-reviewed articles" section of the journal.
Author(s) and their affiliation
Please, complete the respective part of the online submission form, regarding author(s) name and their e-mail address. Give us addresses for correspondence purposes and also the URL of the homepage of the organisation/institution concerned.
A full English version
The full version should be prepared for blind peer review: please, remove author(s) name and affiliation and preferably any information that may allow authors' identification. We recommend a paper size of 3000-7000 words. This includes tables, illustrations, references, acknowledgement, etc. Please, follow these format guidelines when writing your contribution. The styles and headings used will give a well-structured format to the article. The next paragraph is explaining how to cope with non-textual elements.
Structure of the full version
Consider the following structure when presenting your contribution:
- title
- keywords (up to six)
- references
- acknowledgements
Title
Give us a single line title not longer than 15 words.
Keywords
List up to six keywords to position your paper.
References
References should be elaborated according to the APA (American Psychological Association) specifications. References to journals should include the authors' names and initials, title of publication, full name of the journal, publication year, volume, number and starting and ending page.
Consider the following examples:

You may list acknowledgements at the end of your contribution.
Non-textual data types in your contribution
You may include in your contribution information other than textual: pictures, audio files, video files, presentations, etc. However, in case you have references to files not embedded in your document (audio, video, etc.), we kindly ask you to compress them (your paper + additional files) into one zip file before uploading.
English language issue
The authors are responsible for presenting the paper in good English. Ask native speakers or colleagues to check your article from this perspective. Consider the - international - audience when choosing your terminology. Specialised topics and terms should be considered carefully to prevent making your audience lose their attention. Authors are responsible for proof-reading the original long and short version of their article.
Submission of contributions
Contributions should be uploaded electronically directly on page"Submit your contribution".
We require the papers to be submitted in MS WORD format. If the submission consists of more than one file or there are non-integrated files, we request you to upload the file(s) in compressed (ZIP) format.
Review procedure
All submitted proposals are reviewed by two referees. The first review level controls whether the basic requirements as expressed in these guidelines are respected. Predictably, the complete review procedure from acceptance to publication will last approximately 12-16 weeks (this may not be the case for contributions submitted during summer or Christmas holiday). You will receive a reply message confirming receipt of your contribution and indicating that all files are legible and can enter the review process. Authors can be asked to revise their contribution. Important revisions will result in a re-run of the referee-cycle. If minor changes are asked, we ask for a speedy return.
Submissions are digitally checked against plagiarism.
Copyright policy and responsibilities of authors
Submission of a contribution implies that — unless clearly indicated and all conflicting copyright issues resolved —, the content has not been published nor submitted elsewhere.
Authors are responsible for getting written permission to publish long quotations, copyrighted artwork or anything whose copyright they do not own. Authors remain responsible for the content of what they submit to be published.
