Examining Collective Authorship in Collaborative Writing Tasks through Digital Storytelling

Abstract
This paper examines collective authorship and collaborative writing within a digital storytelling project carried out in a foreign language learning context in Spain. In this project, participants had the opportunity to write collaboratively and to become collective authors thanks to the use of technology and multimodality for the creation of their digital stories. This new way of writing has favoured the emergence of new notions of authorship which can be related with the creation of a new collaborative culture resulting from the advent of Web 2.0. In fact, in the project it was noted that the notion of authorship of the contents created and shared through digital technologies shifted and evolved towards a state of being nearly invisible. Moreover, collaboration and collective writing allowed participants to assume different roles at different times, enabling participants to switch back and forth between the roles of Writer, Editor, Reviewer, Team Leader and Facilitator.

Este artículo examina la autoría colectiva y la escritura colaborativa en el marco de un proyecto de relatos digitales llevado a cabo en un contexto de enseñanza de lenguas extranjeras en España. En dicho proyecto, los participantes tuvieron la oportunidad de escribir de manera colaborativa y de convertirse en autores colectivos gracias al uso de la tecnología y la multimodalidad para la creación de sus relatos digitales. Este nuevo modo de escribir ha favorecido la emergencia de nuevas concepciones de autoría que tienen que ver con la emergencia de una nueva cultura colaborativa surgida a partir de la llegada de la Web 2.0. Así, el proyecto permitió apreciar que el concepto de autoría de los contenidos creados y compartidos a través de las tecnologías digitales varió y evolucionó hasta un estado cercano a la invisibilidad. Además, la colaboración y la escritura colectiva permitieron a los participantes asumir diferentes papeles en distintos momentos, favoreciendo el reparto rotativo de las funciones de escritor, editor, revisor, guía del equipo y facilitador.
